Daughters of the American Revolution
The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR or DAR) is a service organization open to any woman age 18 years and older who can prove lineal descent from an American Revolutionary War Patriot. Much of the work of DAR is accomplished by volunteers in its chapters across the United States and internationally to promote historic preservation, education, and patriotism.
The Saguaro Chapter, NSDAR, is a local chapter of the DAR. Our chapter is based in Mesa, Arizona, and our members come from many parts of the area and beyond.

Our Chapter
Saguaro Chapter, NSDAR, was organized in 1974 with sixteen members. In keeping with the purpose of the National Society, chapter members work together on numerous projects to promote historic preservation, education, and patriotism. We all have busy lives, so our projects offer ways to contribute that fit our schedules. We keep in touch across our many service projects through monthly meetings, where we enjoy an informative program, business sessions, and socializing. Learn more about our activities.

Chapter Namesake
The chapter was named after the Saguaro Cactus, one of the largest plants. This is a native protected plant of the Sonoran Desert, and its blossom is the Arizona state flower. Located in Arizona, the oldest slow-growing Saguaro cacti are estimated to be 150 to 200 years old and reach a great height, 15 to 150 feet. Those with more than five arms are estimated to be 200 years old.
